Caribbean Community Theatre continues its 39^th season with Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, a play written by Richard Alfieri (May 17-26, 2024).

Carisma Bishop directs the cast of Charlie O’Connor and Michelle Dizon, with interlude dancing by Edwin Rosario and Patricia Scott, and choreography by Charlie O’Connor.

There are six performances over two weekends of this play at CCT: May 17-18 and 24-25, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, and two Sunday matinees at 4 PM on May 19 & 26, 2024.

Lily, an aging but still formidable retiree, hires Michael, an acerbic dance instructor, to give her dance lessons in her Florida condo. Antagonism between the two gives way to profound compatibility as they swing dance, tango, foxtrot, waltz, salsa, and cha-cha, while sharing barbs, secrets, and intimacies along with the dance steps.

Tickets are $20 for adults, with discounts for seniors, students and CCT members, and may be purchased (for cash only) at the CCT box office prior to each show, which opens 45 minutes before curtain.

This play is not recommended for children under age 13. Performances are held at the Caribbean Community Theatre at #18 Estate Orange Grove in Christiansted, St. Croix.

CCT has been fortunate in having many generous friends and sponsors over the 33 years we have been serving the St. Croix community. Each year we face the possibility that the new season may be our last, so donations from our friends are critical.

Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of the Caribbean Community Theatre. The Caribbean Community Theatre will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of the Caribbean Community Theatre.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

The Caribbean Community Theatre will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.

The Caribbean Community Theatre will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the Caribbean Community Theatre.

Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for Caribbean Community Theatre.

The Caribbean Community Theatre will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by Caribbean Community Theatre.

The Caribbean Community Theatre will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, the Caribbean Community Theatre will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

The Caribbean Community Theatre will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to the Caribbean Community Theatre.

At this time of gift giving, we ask that you add a donation to CCT to your budget. Your financial contribution helps us bring high-quality, affordable productions to our audiences. We are proud of the many wonderful shows that have been performed at CCT since our first season in 1985, and in particular our musical productions, which in recent years have
included 9 to 5 – The Dolly Parton Musical, Cabaret, Crowns, The Color Purple, Dreamgirls, Into the Woods, Smokey Joe’s Café, and RENT.

You may choose to support a particular production, or donate money for our scholarship fund to help pay the tuition for students in our Calico Cat Company – CCT’s after-school children’s theater program. Let us know if you prefer that we use your donation for ongoing costs such as electricity, rent, music director fee, show royalties, printing and advertising, costumes and props.
